In the morning, we snacked in room while watching funeral on TV. (9:30-11:--) then we went to the omlette restaurant and sat next to owner who was participating in the service while drinking coffee and watching on TV. (11:15-:45) We had a nice conversation with the owner in our very broken Italian.
After breakfast, we tried to find the procession to Santa Maria Maggiore, but ended up on the wrong side. Even if we had been on the right side, we might not have been able to get around due to the crowd. After the ”burial” we looked at the road to Santa Maria Maggiore.
Then we went to Colleseum. The procession had passed right in front of the Colleseum. That would have been a good place from which to watch the procession. We walked around Palatine hills and enjoyed the crowds. There were a LOT of groups of kids. Turns out today is a Jubilee for teenagers with over 80,000 teens visiting Rome. I guess that explains all the kids!
